“Fascism wants to waste your time” – F.D. Signifier
There are certain things that need to be understood in this second iteration of this administration. Topics on the issues of misinformation, disinformation, media literacy, performance vs progress, and many other matters will be discussed repeatedly. However, one thing that needs to be highlighted across all media platforms is that one of the goals to this amount of chaos, confusion, and uncertainty is simply to waste your time. It’s by design to waste your time. Folks are going to be spending an ungodly amount of time trying to call out racists for being racists, fascists for being fascists and engage in endless debates on debates to no avail. The outcome: to make folks feel better about their own morality and feel morally superior to a racist. It’s at the point where the bar for racism is simply to not call someone the “N” word.
The bar is in Tartarus.
Calling a racist a racist isn’t a flex. We are in a time where more folks will be feeling emboldened to just be open with their racism. We have a woman currently raising $1m dollars for being openly racist. Their focus is to waste your time by having you focus on their racism just for them to gain glee from you being “triggered”. They view your offense as a joke and your response as a desired outcome. Think of Wimp Lo from Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. Their philosophy is the equivalent of, “I’m bleeding, making me the victor”. They will shit themselves just to watch you wince at the smell. There are no limits to the lengths that they’ll go and the harm that they do to themselves just to see you uneasy. It’s easy to fight an enemy you can see and to alter your tactics to prevent them from wasting your time and focusing on tangible results.
What needs to be highlighted, however, is the flipside. More specifically, liberals. More specifically, white liberals.
As I highlighted in the first paragraph, there are countless Tik Toks pointing to these issues thinking that this is “progress”. They’ll participate in 2 protests and think that they’re a part of the civil rights movement. All the while, they won’t address the racism in their own household nor the internalized racism that they have within themselves. Some will even downplay black activists in favor of those who look like them, even though they’re supposed to be fighting for the same goals and outcomes. Many of these folks are unserious. They will waste your time in a more insidious nature because they will fake like they want progress, but in reality, they just want to vent. They’ll be quick to post an anti-Trump meme, but if you tell them to participate in a prolonged protest, suddenly, they’re copping pleas. They want the results only if there’s a white face at the leader and black bodies as the pavement to march on.
Monitor who you follow and start changing your algorithms. Realize that these social media platforms aren’t on your side either if the campaign is going against the overall agenda. We’re already seeing it with Kiandria and the ongoing protests against Square and Stripe regarding the million-dollar fundraiser. In this new landscape, not only do your tactics have to change, but your sources must change as well. Else you’ll find yourself doomscrolling panel discussions about 50/50 relationships and if you’ll allow your white spouse to say the N word. There’s too many organizations, protests, movements, and other productive avenues for you to allocate that time to than to flippantly give it to folks that neither care about you, your people or your progress.
Be sure that there aren’t any other vampires trying to steal your time. Make sure that the next time that they want to have your time, you’ll need to give them permission.
Reclaim it, conserve it, own it.
We don’t have time to waste time.
